She was predeceased by: her parents, Joe Lane and Mary Lane. She is survived by: her sons, Kenneth W. Bates (Ken) and James Alan Bates; her grandchildren, Megan Bates and Ethan Bates (Leslie); her great grandchildren, Sawyer Haugrud, Sadie Haugrud, William Bates and Ofelia Bates; and her siblings, Ina Smith, Nancy Fields and Gary Lane (Linda). She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and other family members.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital (http://www.stjude.org) and / or the American Cancer Society (https://donate.cancer.org) (American Cancer Society) The family will receive friends at Carter Trent Funeral Home Kingsport on Thursday, June 11, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
