She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Averitt and Ruth Charlton; and her sister Sherry Davis. She is survived by: her husband Charles "Charlie" Powell; her children, Sara Dunning (Jeff Propes), Jason (Heather Powell), Emily (John Sutherland) and Adam (Karli Powell); her grandchildren, Rachael Dunning, Tyson Jones, Caroline Powell, Tripp Powell and Palmer "JoJo" Powell; and her siblings, Debbie Phillips, Brenda Rachuig, Roger Averitt, Kady and Lola.
In lieu of flowers, and in honor of her deep love for music, memorial contributions may be made to the Higher Ground Baptist Church Music Ministry.
