He was predeceased by: his father J. T. Mays; and his wife Pamela Mays. He is survived by: his mother Sarah Mays of Muscle Shoals; his sons, Kevin Mays (Melinda) of Kingston and Bryan Mays (Ashley) of Knoxville; his stepsons, Jarrett Brackett (Wendy) of Texas and Jeremy Brackett of Kingston; his grandchildren, Cade Mays, Cooper Mays, Ryder Mays and Ramsey Mays; his brother James Mays (Patsy) of Florence, Alabama; and his nieces, Lisa Moates and Leigh Ann Foote. He is also survived by his family, friends.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, August 29th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Kyker Funeral Homes Our Kingston Chapel (350 W Race St, Kingston, TN 37763). A burial was held on Saturday, August 29th 2026 at the Oak Grove Cemetery (114 N Gateway Ave Suite D, Rockwood, TN 37854).
