He was predeceased by: his parents, Lee Lawson and Myrtle Lawson; and his siblings, Carlos Lawson, Fayette Rutherford, Portia Jones, Patsy Massengill and Deanna Lawson.
He is survived by: his brother Larry Lawson; his children, Tamara Maggard of Corbin and Billy Ray Lawson Jr. of Knoxville; and his grandchildren, Sidney Breeden, Riley Melton and Charlee Maggard. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
