He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Yashkas Gillis and Joseph Gillis; his brothers, Leo Gillis, Sr. and Joseph Gillis; and his brother-in-law Thomas C. Baker.
He is survived by: his wife Sandra Gillis; his nephew Dr. Chris Baker; and his sisters, Mary Gillis, Shavertown, Dorothy Corcoran (Tom) and Wilkes-Barre. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made in John's memory to St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church, Farragut, Tn., where John was a long-time parishioner.
