He was predeceased by: his father Patrick Heye; his stepbrother Keith Smiley; his uncle Mike Heye; and his close friend Duke. He is survived by: his wife Courtney; his stepchildren, Gabe Martinez and Izze Dow (Kurtis); his stepparents, Tresa and Pamela Heye; his half-sister Aleah Bruce (Will); his nephew Marcus Bruce; his stepbrother Glenn Smiley (Jenni); his grandparents, Don and Jean Sealy; his aunt Jana; his uncle Troy Ukasick; his cousins, Trent, Kori Ukasick, Matthew and Jason Heye; and his friend Wes.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Save the Giants in memory of Josh and Duke.
