He is survived by: his son Brian Pierson (Trisha); his siblings, Sue Bivens and Richard Dial; his nephews, Greg Bivens (Annette), Tony Bivens (Ellen) and Jimmy Dial (Jessica); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Elijah Dial, Gregory Bivens, Laurana Parsons, Trevor Childs, EllaJane Bivens and Maggie Mae Bivens. He is also survived by cousins and friends.

He generously shared his gifts with the broader community, serving on the Wesley Foundation Board and, at the time of his passing, as Vice President of the Historic Ramsey House Board of Directors.
