He was predeceased by: his parents, Wallace Witmer and Vallie Jo Witmer; his significant other Nora; and his sister Vallie Jo Bell of Memphis, Tennessee.. He is survived by: his children, Nora Browning Witmer, Wallace VanMetre Witmer III, Julie Witmer Smith (Bill), Eve Witmer Johnson (Brad) and Camille Chandler Witmer; his grandchildren, Edward (Kimberly), Nora, Baxley, Grace, Ava, William (Lucy), Camille (Blake), Julie, Jimbo, Helen (Preston), Evie and Isabelle; his great grandchildren, Walker, Banks, Henry and Ellie; and his caregivers, Sherry Burch, Danyelle Wheatherly, Linda Murray, Marla and Erich Mounce.
A graveside service was held on Friday, September 25th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM and at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to Immanuel Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 21, La Grange, Tennessee 38046.
