Elder was predeceased by: wife Roberta Wilburn Shoulders; parents, Claude Shoulders and Dorch Shoulders (Oldham); and brother Bill Shoulders. Elder is survived by: sons, Mickey Shoulders and Rick Shoulders (Beverly); grandchildren, Josh and Brooke Shoulders; great grandchild Remi Gray Shoulders of Lafayette; siblings, Bobby "LuLu" Shoulders of Gallatin, James "Slick" Shoulders (Sue) of Greenbrier, Sylvia Hibdon of Clarksville, Elberta Bernett of Springfield, Faye Fowler of Florida, Betty Cothron of Greenbrier, Edwina Southerland of Cleveland and Mary Roberts of Lebanon; and sisters-in-law, Linda Pharris (Joe) of Lafayette and Sandy Willoughby of Lafayette.
