He was predeceased by: his parents, James Thompson and Velma Thompson (Dallas); his father-in-law Doyle Gaines; and his brother-in-law Ronnie Reid. He is survived by: his wife Dawn Gaines Thompson; his sons, Marcus Thompson (Kailyn) and Ryan Thompson (Savannah); his grandsons, Tate and Riggs Thompson; his sisters, Dorthy Shoulders (Jerry) and Betty Claiborne (Glenn); his mother-in-law Shirley Gaines; and his siblings-in-law, David Gaines (Kathy), Dale Reid and Diana Hernandez (David). He is also survived by nieces & nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, July 7th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, July 8th 2025 from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Anderson & Son Funeral Home & Memorial Park - Lafayette (997 Hwy 52 E, Lafayette, TN 37083). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, July 8th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, July 8th 2025 at the Macon County Memorial Gardens (209 E Locust St, Lafayette, TN 37083).
Family requests memorials be made to the Paul Thompson Memorial Scholarship Fund.
