He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Painter and Ruth Painter (Kraft). He is survived by: his wife Fran Painter; his daughters, Gretchen Tongco (Wayne) and Julie Truett (Patrick); his grandchildren, Bradley, Colleen Tongco, Ben and Megan Truett; and his siblings, David Painter (Nancy) and Linda Stansfield (Tom).

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorials be made to the Galilee Bible Camp, 586 Camp Galilee Road, LaFollette, Tennessee 37766.

“We were so sad to learn about tom's passing. We have nothing but wonderful memories of the good times we shared when we lived in deerfield. We considered tom and fran as close friends and enjoyed our bible studies with them. Tom had many talents but his best quality was knowing the lord and making everyone around him feel so special.
