He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Melton Smith, Sr. and Beatrice Marable Smith; and his siblings, Dene Mashburn and Dwight Smith. He is survived by: his wife Betty Benson Smith of Lawrenceburg, TN; his siblings, Stanley Smith (Velda), Ralph Smith of Columbia, TN, Okie Stout Johnson of Lawrenceburg, TN and Gwynn Ware of Lawrenceburg, TN; his brother-in-law Charles Mashburn; and his siblings' children, Kent Smith, Craig Smith, Chuck Mashburn, Greg Mashburn, Bret Stout, Eric Stout, Kevin Smith, Keith Smith, Debbie Ezell, Carol Davis and Dena Mashburn. He is also survived by many great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, special cousins, and friends.
Visitation was held on Sunday, January 11th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Neal Funeral Home (231 N Military Ave, Lawrenceburg, TN 38464). A funeral service was held on Monday, January 12th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Leoma Baptist Church Building Fund.
