He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Robert and Mary Sue Johnson Burnette; and his son Charles "Chuck" Burnette. He is survived by: his wife Brenda Underwood Burnette; his children, Vicky Burnette Smith and Steve Burnette (Gail); his siblings, Willie Robert Burnette Jr. and Betty Sue Hunter; his grandchildren, Shannon Leedom (Brent Stone), Theresa Carter (JJ), Stanley Smith (Ella-Faye), Joshua Smith, Corey Burnette (Sommer), Kyle Burnette, Matt Burnette (Amanda), J. C. Crum, Kate Burnette (Justin Ellis), Stephanie Neal (George) and Brandon Burnette (Rachel); and his nephew Daniel Shook (Joey). He is also survived by 25 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 29th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home (241 W Main St, Lebanon, TN 37087). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 29th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital or to the Gideons International.
