He is survived by: his wife Kimberly Brewer Thompson; his children, Amanda Shoemake (Chris), Marianne Thompson (Jason Neal), Kyle Campbell, Maggie Thompson (Mike Brakefield) and Chase Thompson; his grandchildren, Keeleigh Smith, Sophie Shoemake, Emery Shoemake, Kasyn Smith, Nolan Shoemake and Jyace Neal; his siblings, Donnell Thompson (Wanda), LeeAnne Thompson, Bobby Thompson (Lisa), Alene Gibson (Rutherfood Polyte) and Jack Thompson (Phyllis); and his pets, Tink and Khloe.
