He was predeceased by: his wife Nelda Campbell; his parents, Tom Howard and Rosalee Brackett Howard; his siblings, Patrina Howard Giles (Cedric), Carl and Eugene (Stella); his nieces, Connie Giles Mayfield and Jackie Howard Segroves; W. C. Keyt.
He is survived by: his son Anthony; his grandson James "Jack" Howard of Columbus, Ohio; his brother Norman "Hoss" Howard (Ruby) of Lenoir City; his sister-in-law Margaret Oody Howard of Loudon; and his nieces and nephews, Daryl, Bill, Mitchell, Tom, Mike Howard, Kristy Giles Reed and Barbara Howard Bell.
In the last four decades of his life he overcame three angioplasty procedures, two open heart bypass surgeries, a stroke, diabetes, congestive heart failure, sepsis, kidney failure, bilateral pneumonia, a broken hip and COVID.
