She was predeceased by: her parents, Dana Rice and Emily Hardin Rice; and her husband James A. Thornburg. She is survived by: her daughters, Gwendolyn Elaine Simpson Jonesborough (Scott) and Donna Gay Harrington (Jeff); her brother Gerald Rice; her grandchildren, Cody Rush (Tiffany), Austin Rush, Amber Simpson, Joshua Harrington (Sasha) and Michael Harrington (Lauren); her great grandchildren, Wyatt, Blakely, Jeremiah, Easton and Lilly; and her grandchildren, Leora Gardner and Bubbleheadâ. She is also survived by several nephews and nieces.

Visitation was held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home (418 W College St, Jonesborough, TN 37659). A funeral service was held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Oakland Cemetery.
