He was predeceased by: his mother Laura Ada Carter Smith; his brother Steve Carter; and his brother-in-law George Newman. He is survived by: his father Herbert Miller Smith; his wife Sarah Temple Smith; his daughter Connie Smith; his grandsons, Christopher Alderidge (Monica), Cody Shaver (Summer) and Daniel Alderidge; his great grandchildren, Camsley Alderidge, Nova Alderidge, JoLee Shaver and Brayden Shaver; his sister Mary Newman; and his nephews, Jimmy Temple and Trey Newman. He is also survived by his family as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.
