He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Edna "Pauline" Burns and Charles "Hugh" Burns; his wife Gay Burns; his children, Angela Beairsto (Kevin), Wendy Markham (Curtis), Ned Newell (Erin) and Mac Newell (Renee); his grandchildren, Joseph, Patrick, Christian, Madeline, Lindsay, Laney, Olivia, Noah and Evan; his sister Carolyn Burns Mouch; and his uncle Paul Allison. He was also cherished by his nieces and nephews; several cousins; and his many, many friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Church of The Good Shepherd or to the Chattanooga Community Kitchen, a favorite of Wendell's , as he "never wanted anyone to go hungry.".
