He was predeceased by: his parents, E. J. Cate and Virginia Justice Cate; and his sister Mary Lynn Cate. He is survived by: his wife Kaye Cate; his son Larry Gene Cate Jr.; his stepsons, Bryan Lindsey and Tony Lindsey; and his brother Rev. Dan Cate. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
