She was predeceased by : her husband Donald Morton Carpenter; her parents, Jerry Purkey and Etta Purkey; and her brothers, Verlin, Reuben and Venus Purkey.

She is survived by : her son Steve; her daughter-in-law Dee Carpenter; her granddaughter Jenny; her grandson-in-law AJ Haynes; her great grandchildren, Faith and Hope Haynes; and her nieces and nephews, Hank Purkey (Jackie), Maria Wright (James), Linda Clark (Coy), Curt and Richard Escher.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Arthritis Foundation through their donation site at info.arthritis.org.
