He was predeceased by: his parents, Benny Carl Lay and Shelia Smith Lay; and his grandparents, Theo, Wynell Smith, Onvest Hooper and Opal Lay.

He is survived by: his fiancé Cyndi Rigsby; his sister Vanessa McKee (Jim); his daughter Kayla Rose (Grace); his extended family, Scott, Pam Hackney, Amber, Brian and Peyton Clinton; Jordan, Olivia, Farah and Phoebe.
