We announce the death of Melba Lee Smithey (Manchester, Tennessee), who passed away on September 8, 2026, at the age of 79. Melba will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Lida Mae Fults Sartain and Edison Sartain; her husband Melvin "Buddy" Smithey; her children, Reffer, Brenda Kay and Ricky Meadows; and her siblings, Pearly, Mary, Martin, Thomas, Marlee, Dewey, Willard, Annie and William.
She is survived by: her grandson Brad (Brittany); her great grandchildren, Shaylee and Teegan (Shaylee); her grandson Caleb Gregory; Shaina Steere (Court) and Jeff Brown. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Visitation was held on Monday, September 14th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Central Funeral Home (2812 Hillsboro Hwy, Manchester, TN 37355). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 15th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the same location.
