He is survived by: his children, Jennifer Murphy Gaw of Nashville, TN, David Winstead Murphy, Jr. of Martin, TN and Ginger Ellen Murphy of Martin, TN; his grandchildren, Jeannette Arnold Gaw of Chicago, IL and Lieutenant Douglas Murphy Gaw of San Diego, CA; and his children, Nathan Tyler Perry of Lebanon, TN, Mary Elizabeth Higgs and Murphy Michael Higgs of Martin, TN.. He is also survived by his family, friends.

Visitation was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday, September 12th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Murphy Funeral Home (207 Central Ave, Martin, TN 38237). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
