He is survived by: his wife Ann Elizabeth Hicks Gardner of Martin, TN; and his children, Teresa Elizabeth Ellis (Chet) of Dresden, TN, Tammie Lorraine Mosley (Kerry) of Dresden, TN, Tyler Lane Gardner (Cristal) of Newbern, TN and Tracey Lea Gardner of Dresden, TN. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Sunday, September 13th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A funeral service was held on Sunday, September 13th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Gardner Methodist Church (440 TN-431, Martin, TN 38237).
