He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Benson and Dixie Benson; and his brother Harold Benson. He is survived by: his sons, David (Jennifer) of Maryville and Donnie (Vicky) of Rockford; his grandchildren, Jonathon (Alicia), Aimee, Matthew, Bethany (Justin Crabtree), Kayla, Ethan and Lilly; and his siblings, Ralph Benson (Liz), Pat Chesky (Shel), Susie Slyman, Phyllis Crisp (Jerry) and Viva Benson. He is also survived by 11 great grandchildren.

A reception was held on Friday, May 23rd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Memorial Funeral Home (1102 Big Springs Rd, Maryville, TN 37801).
