With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Leonard L. Proffitt (Maryville, Tennessee), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on March 14, 2026 at the age of 89. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his wife Edith Chumley Proffitt; his parents, Clayton Proffitt and Mattie McNeely Proffitt; his grandson Scott Denton; his great grandchild Jessica Rae Denton; and his siblings, Jimmy Proffittt and Mary Sue Huffaker.
He is survived by: his children, Jeffery Kent Proffitt (Angie) and Penny Lynn Proffitt; his grandchildren, Ashley, Tasha, Andrew, Tyler and Kellie; and his great grandchildren, Lane, Trevor, Chance, Paige, David, Gabe and Jacob. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
