He was predeceased by : his parents, Buttle Davis and Pearl Davis; his son Billy Ray Hayes; his grandson Grayson Davis; and his siblings, Charles Bruner (Jack), Murphy Davis, Ed Davis, Sedric Davis, Betty Jo Henshaw and Lois Maya.

He is survived by : his close friend Brenda Bernard; his children, Scotty Ray, Dustin Sands (Kristy), Rebecca Rose (Carl), Terri "Lynn" Garner (Billy) and Ashley Bowling (Willie); his daughter-in-law Crystal Hayes; his grandchildren, Chasity Rouse, Cody York, Makayla Burrows, Sierra Thatcher, Terry Rose, Karla Manis, Tori Hayes, Tasha Allen, Joseph Woods, Josh, Samantha Bernard, Katie, Julia Bernard, Charles Bernard and Destiny Sands; his siblings, Ken Davis, Maggie Acuff and Carolyn Chamberlain; and his close friend William Edwards.
