It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Janet Sue Matheny (McKenzie, Tennessee), who passed away on April 24, 2026, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Frederick Heminger and Katherine Travis Heminger; her husband Leroy Mathney; her siblings, Doris Smith, Richard Strasburg, Donald Strasburg, Roger Strasburg and Ernest Strasburg; and her granddaughter Shelby Barksdale.
She is survived by: her children, Charlotte Burcham (Jerry) of McKenzie, Curtis Jones (Cindy) of Milan, Eric Matheny of McKenzie and Terri Matheny of Oklahoma; her sister Sharon Rose of Uniondale, IN; and her grandchildren, Brandi Adkins (Dennis), Stacy Harwell (Jacob), Courtney Jones, Ryan Jones (Yaritze), Brittany King, Meagan Williamson, Sara Matheny, Madison Pyle and Lindsey Richardson. She is also survived by 21 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, May 2nd 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Long Heights Baptist Church (260 Old Paris Rd, McKenzie, TN 38201). A memorial service was held on Saturday, May 2nd 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
