He was predeceased by: his parents, Ira B. Cowan and Siddie Mae Stewart Cowan; and his wife Betty Jean Hale. He is survived by: his children, Dana Womack (Ross) of Murfreesboro, TN, Rhonda Smith (Don) of Smyrna, TN and Jimmy Cowan (Pam) of McMinnville, TN; his grandchildren, Amanda Haley (David) of Chattanooga, TN, Jennifer Smith of Smyrna, TN, Heather Reisser (Steve) of Murfreesboro, TN, Haley Richardson (Jason) of Smyrna, TN, Justin Smith (Emily) of Nashville, TN, Matthew Cowan (Beth) of Woodbury, TN, Tara Cowan of McMinnville, TN and Hannah Jones (Ryan) of Charleston, SC; his great grandchildren, Anna, Patrick, Jagger, Falon, Leila, Skyler, Catherine, Cameron, Lorelai and Oliver; and his brothers-in-law, Jerry Hale and Louis Jordan. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
