He was predeceased by: his wife Malinda Carol Gilbert; his brother Fred Gilbert; and his parent Percy Gilbert. He is survived by: his son David Gilbert; his stepsons, James Ammons and Thomas Ammons; his daughter-in-law Joanne House; and his grandchildren, Abigail Ammons, MacKenzie Ammons, Julia Dyess, Georgia Dyess and Eleanor Ammons. He is also survived by three grand-daughter's, two step-granddaughter's, and daughter-in-laws that were like his own children.
