He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Donaldson and Ruth Jernigan Donaldson; his son Mike Donaldson; his daughter-in-law Jewell Donaldson; his wife Lillian Donaldson; and his siblings, Benny Donaldson, Lester Donaldson, Helen, Elizabeth and Ruby Joyce.
He is survived by: his former wife Jimmie Nell Donaldson; his children, Vickie Bloodworth and Ricky Donaldson; his stepdaughter Sarah Walls (David Walls); his grandchildren, Christi Donaldson, Heather Childress, Jay Childress, Jennifer Latham, Drew Latham, Joe Bloodworth III, Gina Lipford, Dalton Lipford, Kelly Blakenship, Beau Blakenship, Matthew Walls, Amber Walls and Eden Walls; his great grandchildren, Genna Bloodworth, Conner, Chloe, Gaven Latham, Joey Bloodworth, Kacie, Avery, Kevin, Caleb and Eli; his great great grandchild Aurora; and his sister Bettye Jo Dedmon.
His accomplishments in the sport led to his induction into the Memphis Boxing Hall of Fame, recognizing his significant contributions to boxing in the Mid-South.
