He was predeceased by: his parents, Willis Carpenter and Inez Carpenter; his son Kevin Wade Carpenter; and his stepson Alan Clyde Smith. He is survived by: his wife Mary Smith Carpenter; his children, David Keith Carpenter and Ivy Akins (Ricky); his stepson Perry Scott Smith; his grandchildren, Matthew Carpenter, Kristen Smith and Coty Lockhart (Carley); and his great grandchildren, Jack, Chris, Chloe Smith and Camreigh Lockhart.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 8th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Family Funeral Care (4925 Summer Ave, Memphis, TN 38122). A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 8th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
Memorials may be made in David's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
