With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Emma Jean Tate (Memphis, Tennessee), who passed away on October 8, 2025 at the age of 71. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Louise Daughtery Sampson and Walter Bean; her brother George Turner; her stepbrother Willie Sampson; and her sisters, Phyllis Newsom, Angela Sampson and Mary Sampson.
She is survived by: her children, Marcus Tate (Tonia), Jonathan Smith and Marcina Adams (Brian); her grandchildren, Miya Tate, Lauren Tate, Jordan Adams, Marissa Tate, Kamron Adams, Matthew Tate, Asia Adams and Kyrie Adams; her stepsister Avery Lee Sampson; and her sisters, Viki Sampson, Marsha Buchanon (Don) and Jamie Sampson.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Elmwood Cemetery (672 S Lauderdale St, Memphis, TN 38126). A burial will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 at the same location.
