He was predeceased by: his parents, Jethro Finley and Ina Cooper. He is survived by: his wife Sylvia Ann Mayes Cooper; and his children, Chaundra Jones, Katrina Cooper, Shana Cooper and Marcus Mayes Sr. (Evelyn). He is also survived by seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, July 30th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Chapel of R. S. Lewis and Sons Funeral Home (3651 Austin Peay Hwy, Memphis, TN 38128). A burial was held on Friday, July 31st 2026 from 10:00 AM to 10:20 AM at the West Tennesse Veterans Cemetery (4000 Forest Hill Irene Rd, Memphis, TN 38125). A funeral service was held on Friday, July 31st 2026 at 12:00 PM at the R. S. Lewis and Sons Funeral Homes (3651 Austin Peay Hwy, Memphis, TN 38128).
