He was predeceased by: his wife Inez Blakney; and his parents, James Elmo Blakney Sr. and Jean K. Overman Blakney. He is survived by: his son James D. Blakney (Reva); his sister Peggy Cross; his grandsons, Clinton Douglas Blakney (Jennifer) and James Kyle Blakney (Natalie); and his great grandchildren, Carter Douglas Blakney, Connor James Blakney and Charlotte Gay Blakney.
Visitation was held on Thursday, November 13th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, November 14th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Reed's Chapel (302 W Church St, Lexington, TN 38351). A funeral service was held on Friday, November 14th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, November 14th 2025 at the New Haven Cemetery.
