It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Purdue Gordon in Memphis, Tennessee, who passed away on February 11, 2024, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Purdue Gordon and Florence Slates Gordon. He is survived by: his wife Rosemary Moon Gordon; his daughters, Kathryn A. Walker (Charles, Jr.) and Karen L. McAdams (Richard); his sister Barbara M. Wirt (Michael); and his grandchildren, Kendall N Walker, Hannah E McAdams, Caitlyn D. Walker, Austin D Walker (Lundon) and Jacob A. McAdams. He is also survived by 3 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Grace Presbyterian Church, Bartlett TN, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis TN.

“I just learned of John's passing. He and I were shipmates on the USS John C, Calhoun in 1975-78. I was navigator on Calhoun and always knew that everything in the Navigation Center was always in order when Chief Gordon was there. He was a great shipmate and friend.”
