He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar Laurence Gaines and Dorothy Kirby Gaines; and his brother Edgar Laurence Gaines II (Ed). He is survived by: his wife Donna Dodds Gaines; his children, Grant Gaines (Melisa Palmore Gaines), Lindsey Gaines Wingo (Ryan Wingo), Alli Gaines Hill (Gentry Hill) and Bethany Gaines Golding (David Golding); his grandchildren, Alivia, Weston, Camille, Sawyer and Drake Gaines; and his children, Ivey, Ruthie, Charlie, Henry Wingo, Hadley, Dempsey, Emery, Levi, Walker Hill, Ainsley, Grayson, Anne Michael and Mary Margaret Golding. He is also survived by two nieces and five nephews.
In lieu of flowers, Steve asked that you pay for someone's meal and share with them about Jesus. Other donations can be made to the Steve and Donna Gaines Endowed Scholarship Fund at Union University.
