He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Clara Maxwell and Charles James Murphy; his stepfather Walker Harris; his sister Verzell Maxwell Taylor; and his aunts and uncles, Mattie Mae Mitchell, Ruthie Mae Jackson, Willine Randall, Doyle Maxwell, Ellis Maxwell and Joseph Maxwell Sr..
He is survived by: his son Joseph Cornelius Murphy, II; and his friend Gloria Murphy of Memphis. He is also survived by cousins, friends and business associates.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 6th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:55 AM at the Rs Lewis & Sons (3651 Austin Peay Hwy, Memphis, TN 38127). A celebration of life will be held on Monday, October 6th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
