“A tireless and cheerful supporter of the Memphis running community, Lane was a friend to so many. His enthusiastic starting line "Good Morning Runners!" was the iconic welcome we will always remember as well as his friendship and "straight shooter" approach. John Hazen wrote a sympathy message

“Lane, also my neighbor, picked me up when I was stranded due to bike mechanical problems. He also drove me to Dr and therapy when my shoulder was reconstructed. Sunday before Christmas, we talked about Air Force Pilot Training over coffee at Panera Bread. He told me he had a friend complete it. He kidded me about summit-ting Mt Hood before me with his brother, and losing a close race to Jimmy Arnold., He was MS State proud. Races won't be the same without Lane. Sincerely, John Hazen”
