He is survived by: his father Paul Trowbridge Gillespie; his wife Elizabeth Johnston Gillespie; his sons, Paul Trowbridge Gillespie III (Paige), Stuart Johnston Gillespie (Alexis) and John Marston Gillespie (Mackenzie); his grandchildren, Bailey Elizabeth Gillespie, Paul Trowbridge Gillespie IV and Grace Hastings Gillespie; his sister Grace Gillespie Henderson (Haywood); and his caregivers, Tasha, Jamecka Donley and Bettie Love.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 9th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the St. John's Episcopal Church (3245 Central Ave, Memphis, TN 38111). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 10th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. John's Episcopal Church, Memphis University School, ArtsMemphis, Trezevant Manor Foundation, or the charity of the donor's choice.
