She was predeceased by: her daughter Shannon Barber; her parents, Bobby Hughes and Maxine Cates; and her brothers, Larry Hughes, Tommy Hughes and Bobby Joe Hughes.
She is survived by: her husband Gerardo Ortiz; her daughter Natasha Ruiz; her sister Linda Hughes; her grandchildren, Christian Churchill (Trey), Dustin Barber (Haley), Destiny Carter (Tyler Smith) and Jacob Lively; and her great grandchildren, Lucas Churchill, Broden Barber, Teddy Churchill, Carson Carter, Hazel Barber, Everett Carter, Beau Lively, Windham Churchill and Lizzie Beth Barber.
