He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles H. Buckmaster and Bernis O. Buckmaster; his son Steven; and his siblings, Alan and Nancy.

He is survived by: his wife Jill; and his grandchildren, Steven, Rowan Youngs, Hannah Buckmaster Gully (Clay) and Allie Buckmaster.
