He was predeceased by: his former wife Jenwyl Dean Ferrell; his wife Mary Elizabeth McKnight; his parents, Floyd Estill McLain and Hallie Mae Cantrell; and his siblings, William Lafayette McLain, Charles Allen McLain, Jerry Andrew McLain Sr., Robert Floyd McLain, Dorothy Lee McLain, Shirley A McLain and Patricia Ann McLain.
He is survived by: his children, Roy Jr. and Helen Mae McLain; his grandsons, John Allen McLain and Paul Michael Lanning; and his great grandchildren, Lucy Michelle Lanning, Caroline Elizabeth Lanning and Charles Michael Lanning.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 16th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Forest Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Park (2440 Whitten Rd, Memphis, TN 38133).
The family requests that memorials be made to the Mid-South Food Bank.
