She was predeceased by: her parents, T. J. Witty and Margaret Witty. She is survived by: her husband Todd Strickland; her children, Ashleigh Simpson (Earl) and Jonathan Sowell; her grandsons, Phoenix and Pierce; her brother Thomas Witty (Patty); and her nephew Warren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Sarah's memory to the ASPCA, Wounded Warriors, or the Lauren Witty Peer Enabling Program Endowment, University of Tennessee at Martin.
