We announce the death of Serena Bond Ochieng of Memphis, Tennessee, born in Smyrna, Georgia, who passed away on September 27, 2026, at the age of 65. Serena will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Walter Lawerence Bond and Agnes Dismukes Bond. She is survived by: her children, Dustin Lawerence Russell (Cherie Perez Russell), Elizabeth Serena Firman (John Firman), Agnes Voight Russell (Griffin Smith), Charles William Russell III (Suzanne Howell Russell), Josiah OKoth (Tresa), Maryann Achieng Ochieng and Henry Declan Ochieng (Rebecca Ochieng); and her grandchildren, Larson Mechling Russell, Annabel Agnes Russell, Fletcher William Russell, Bobbie Ann May Firman, Elizabeth "Birdie" Pope Russell, Charles William Russell IV and Declan Pierce Ochieng.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Serena's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, honoring her lifelong compassion for others and her desire to help those in need.
