He was predeceased by: his mother Jean Jenkins; and his stepfather Dwane Jenkins. He is survived by: his wife Pam; his sons, Wayne (Christy) and Dennis; his grandchildren, Tyler Wayne Akins (Alyssa), Noah Kevin Akins (Lizzy) and Lauren McKenzie Akins; his siblings, Catherine McHenry, David Akins (Judy), Denisce Paine, Linda Carol Akins and Leroy Newton; and his grandchildren, Noah Smith, William Smith, Bane Bapst, Amanda Panis and Zach Panis.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 4th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Memphis Funeral Home (3700 N Germantown Pkwy, Bartlett, TN 38133). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 4th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Trafalgar Village Baptist Church (6161 Summer Ave, Memphis, TN 38134).
