He was predeceased by: his parents, John Edward Carl Mattox (Ethel Prows Mattox) and Alma Pauline Clinger; and his half-sisters, Elizabeth Berry, Patricia Fox and Betty Hilton.
He is survived by: his wife Louella C. Mattox; his children, Carl Richard Mattox (Amy) of Munford, TN, Sandra Turner (Mark) of Atoka, TN, Angela Daughtry of Millington, TN and Rebecca Carnell (Don) of Horn Lake, MS; his sister Alma Mattox of Paris, KY; his grandchildren, Amber Nicole Brooks (Jesse), Rikki Blair Francois (Evenor), Karleigh Ann Gillespie (Tyler), John Carl Mattox III, Ashlee Brooke Blakney, Levi Daughtry, Kevin Carnell (Kari), Karen Carnell and Kenny Carnell; and his half-sister Paulette Henderson. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
