He was predeceased by : his wife Linda Sue Ellison; his sons, James Lee Ellison and Robert Leon Ellison, III; and his parents, Robert L. Ellison and Mary Frances Ellison.

He is survived by : his daughters, Heidi Barton (Timothy) and Crystal Holliday; his siblings, Norma Jean Kline, Cathy Hall, Beverly Ellison and Jimmy "Jimbo" Dale Ellison; and his grandchildren, Stephanie, Kara, Michael, Amanda, Ashley, Belle, Taylor and Avorie. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.

The family would like any memorial contributions to go to the American Diabetes Association or American Cancer Society.
