He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Samsel; his children, Billy Samsel (Shonda), Amanda Payne (Alden), Caylynn Samsel (JB) and Heather Overby; his grandchildren, Noah Samsel, Lexi Jarnigan (Hunter), Reagan Payne, Kennedy Payne, Jaylen Samsel and Lakely Jarnigan; his mother-in-law Imogene Purkey; his sisters, Juanita Carter and Betty Samsel; his sister-in-law Debbie Cunningham (Jim); and his close friends, Howard Dalton, Tim Cummings, Harry, Debbie Purkey and Nadine Russell.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 1st 2026 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Stubblefield Funeral Home (5421 E Andrew Johnson Hwy, Russellville, TN 37860). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 2nd 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Slate Hill Primitive Baptist Church (1809 Slate Hill Rd, Mooresburg, TN 37811).
