He was predeceased by: his parents, Brooksie Shults Mckinney and Carl Hugh McKinney; his wife JoAnn Gorman McKinney; his daughter Denise Hodges; and his siblings, Floyd McKinney, Paul McKinney, Wayne McKinney and Margaret Jones.
He is survived by: his stepmother Alda McKinney; his daughter Rita Sexton (Frankie); his granddaughters, Erica Stidham (Jeremy) and Candice Hinkle (Jeff); his great grandchildren, Hunter Stidham, Remington Hinkle and Archer Hinkle; his siblings, Donald McKinney (Michael) and Jean Mathis (Paul); and his close friend Mary Knight. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
